PreventionFirst! is offering Wondr Health, an online health program that uses informative videos and learning tools to teach you how to lose weight, and improve your overall physical and mental well-being. Make sure to complete an initial screening to qualify for incentives. With a completely digital platform, you can choose your own start date!

Participate in the following three stages:

SCREENINGS

Complete an initial screening to qualify for incentives. Screenings take 15 minutes and will analyze body composition with a non-invasive handheld device. Screenings can be completed as often as every three months to earn incentives. If you need more time, that is OK—schedule a screening when you feel you have decreased your body fat, increased your strength, and have completed a stage of Wondr Health.

OPTIONAL INCENTIVES

Incentives will be awarded to those who improved their body fat percentage and have completed a Wondr Health stage. Awarded amounts will be distributed on the policy holder’s paycheck.

    Who can participate in the PreventionFirst! program?

    The program is available to SMSC-insured employees, spouses, adult dependents enrolled in an SMSC medical insurance plan, and Community Members.

    What if I started or completed the Wondr program in the past?

    Anyone who has finished or partly participated in the past is eligible to re-enroll in the Wondr program. We recommend re-enrollment if it has been over 6 months since you last participated in the weekly classes. Re-enrolling will reset your account and provide you individualized videos based on how you answered your intake questions. It is not necessary to schedule a PreventionFirst! screening if you have one on file. The most recent one will be used.

    When can I join the PreventionFirst! Program?

    You can join anytime.

    How will I know if I am accepted into the PreventionFirst! Program?

    Participants will receive an acceptance or deferral email notification from Wondr Health.

    What are reasons I would not get accepted or should not join the program?

    If you are under the age of 18, pregnant, have an unstable medical or mental health condition, have an eating disorder, or have a terminal illness, you may not be accepted and you should not apply. You should obtain specific approval from your primary health care provider if you have diabetes, cholelithiasis (gallstones), any chronic health condition, or if you have been warned by your physician against any change in your diet or activity.

    Do I get paid for participating?

    No, but all who participate in Wondr Health receive an annual membership, valued at $560.

    Will there be a monetary incentive to improve my health?

    There is payout incentive of $100-$150 available every three months for those who completed the baseline PreventionFirst! screening, improved their percentage body fat by 1% or more from the prior screening, and have completed a stage of Wondr Health. Community Members can view their incentives for this program here.

    When will I get paid if I earned the monetary incentive?

    Your earnings will be on the last paycheck of the month for the prior month’s completions.

    What if my percentage body fat is already optimal or close to optimal?

    SMSC Health and Wellness and American Council on Exercise recommends keeping your essential body fat, which is important to maintain proper health and body function. Specifically, men’s essential (minimum) body fat level is 5% and women’s essential (minimum) body fat is 13%. There are no monetary incentives available for anyone falling below these percentage boundaries.

    What does a PreventionFirst! appointment entail?

    The appointment will last approximately 15 minutes and your height and weight will be collected and used with the hand-held body fat monitor to estimate your body fat percentage.

    Can I continue to screen every three months even though I have completed WondrSkills (12 weeks) and WondrUp (12 weeks)?

    Yes, once you complete WondrSkills and WondrUp, you can continue to screen every three months to earn incentives. You do not have to complete WondrLast (28 weeks), although PreventionFirst! encourages you to do so to build momentum toward your healthiest self.

    What happens if I go to my screening before the three months are up?

    The screening will be invalid and you will not be eligible to come back for another three months. Your screener at the clinic will not be responsible for informing you if you are too early, so be sure you have completed your WondrSkills or WondrUp stage and that it has been at least three months.

    Can I call the clinic to find out the date and my results of my last screening?

    Yes, we prefer you call the clinic you went to for your screenings.

    Do I have to screen every three months?

    No, you do not have to. If you need more time, that is OK—schedule a screening when you feel you have decreased your body fat, increased your strength/muscle, and have completed a stage of Wondr Health.

    Can I continue with Wondr stages even though I have not completed my screenings?

    Yes, you can continue with the Wondr stages. We recommend you make your baseline screening ASAP and your screenings thereafter when you lost weight and feel you have decreased your body fat and increased strength/muscle.
